Frequently Asked Questions
Can you steam iron my bridesmaid dress?
Yes.
Can you remove my stain?
We will certainly do our utmost. For best results bring in your garments as soon as possible and make sure to let us know about the stains when you drop off your items.
Can you dye a garment for me?
No, we don’t offer a dying service. We recommend CullaChange (https://cullachange.com.au/) for any dying jobs.
How much is a wedding dress to dry clean?
Every dress is different in its requirements but as a basic rule the more work, the higher the cost. A relatively clean A-line dress may be around $350, whilst an extremely dirty princess gown could be $700. Bring it into the shop and we’ll be able to give you a quote.
How often should I dry clean my suit?
If you are wearing your suit in the office everyday, then we believe that you should get the trousers done once a week and the jacket every 2 weeks. If you wear it occasionally then every 5th and 10th wear. Of course if you spill something on it, bring it in earlier.
If you only wear suits for special occasions then bring it in after each wear. This is because in our experience there is usually some stain on it and over time it will oxidise, much like an apple turns brown if you leave it after taking a bite. Also, that way you will also have it ready to go next time and not come in at the last minute for a rush job which won’t allow time for best results.
How often should I wash my shirts?
After every wear. Sweat/perfume/deodorants will set in over time causing yellowing on your collars and cuffs. Also it’s better to have a clean shirt ready to wear in your wardrobe, rather than a dirty one that you need to bring in to clean off 6 month old stains.
Do you clean doonas/comforters/mattress protectors?
Yes. One thing to note though is that the stains on your doonas may not come out. They will be freshened up and hygienically clean but your sweat stains that your body heat has set in over time may remain. For best long term results you should bring your doonas in at least once a year.
How long does dry cleaning take?
Most items can be done same or next day. If the customer is not in a hurry we will usually ask for a few days to a week, which allows us plenty of time to treat stains and re-clean garments if needed, without needing to ask for more time.
Will you call me when my dry cleaning is ready?
If we have your mobile number on file you will receive a text message as soon as your order has been bagged and is ready to collect.
How much does ITEM X cost?
Every item is different depending on it’s construction and needs. If you give us a call we can give you a price for a standard item (trouser, jacket, etc), but until we see it in person we can’t guarantee any price.
Do you do wash and fold laundry?
We do now offer a wash and fold service.
Does dry clean shorten the life of my garments?
No. In fact it is the opposite. Regular cleaning of your items removes dirt and stains that can damage your garment and rejuvenates your items so they last longer.
Should I pre-treat a stain at home before bringing it in?
No. Treating a stain before bringing it can make it harder for us to remove the stain. We have specialised spotters to deal with all sorts of stains and they work best on the raw stain. If you have items that have vomit or faeces on them we do appreciate if you try to wipe off the majority of it but take care not to rub it into the material.
Do you dryclean leather?
No.
Wedding Dress Cleaning FAQs
1) Do you clean wedding dresses?
Yes — we professionally clean wedding dresses, bridal gowns, and delicate formalwear. Each gown is assessed individually so we can choose the safest cleaning method for the fabric, structure, and detailing.
2) Should I clean my wedding dress after the wedding?
Yes. Even if your gown looks spotless, clear stains (like champagne, sweat, or body oils) can set over time and turn yellow. Cleaning early gives the best long-term result.
3) How soon should I bring my gown in after the wedding?
Ideally within a few days or weeks. The sooner we treat the fabric, the easier it is to remove stains before they oxidise or permanently set into fibres.
4) Can you remove old stains or yellowing?
In many cases, yes. We use specialist stain treatment techniques to target older marks, but results depend on the age of the stain, fabric type, and any past cleaning attempts.
5) Do you clean lace, silk, beading, and sequins safely?
Yes — we regularly handle delicate fabrics and detailed trims. We use careful pre-treatment and gentle processing to help protect lace, silk, embroidery, beads, and sequins.
6) Will cleaning damage my gown?
We use professional methods designed specifically for delicate garments and bridal gowns. While every gown carries some risk due to its complexity, we take great care to minimise stress on fabric and structure.
7) Can you clean sweat marks and body oils?
Yes. Sweat and body oils are very common on wedding dresses and can cause discolouration if left untreated. We focus on areas like underarms, bodice edges, straps, and inner lining.
8) Can you remove makeup, fake tan, or deodorant marks?
Yes — these are some of the most common bridal stains we see. We treat them carefully to lift the residue while protecting the fabric and finish.
9) Can you remove wine, champagne, or soft drink stains?
Yes. Many drinks dry clear but still damage fabric over time, so we treat both visible marks and hidden spills to reduce the risk of yellowing later.
10) Do you clean the hem and train?
Yes — the hem and train collect the most dirt and ground-in marks. We focus heavily on these areas, including careful pre-treatment and detailed cleaning where needed.
11) Do I need to point out stains when I drop off my gown?
Yes please — pointing out spills, marks, or damage helps us treat those areas first. Even if you’re unsure, it’s always worth mentioning what happened on the day.
12) Can you clean my veil as well?
Yes. Veils can usually be cleaned safely, depending on the fabric and any beadwork or lace. We’ll assess it and recommend the best option.
13) Can you clean my bridal robe, underskirt, or accessories too?
Yes — we can clean bridal robes, overskirts, detachable sleeves, capes, and more. Bring everything together and we’ll advise the safest approach for each item.
14) How long does wedding dress cleaning take?
Timeframes vary depending on fabric, condition, and detailing. Once we assess your gown, we’ll confirm an expected turnaround and keep you updated if anything changes.
15) Do you offer wedding dress preservation boxing?
Yes. After professional cleaning, we can pack your gown for long-term storage using preservation-friendly materials designed to help reduce ageing, yellowing, and environmental damage.
16) What’s the difference between cleaning and preservation?
Cleaning focuses on removing stains, dirt, and residues from your gown. Preservation is the next step — it’s long-term protective storage, designed to keep the gown in excellent condition for years.
17) Can I store my wedding dress in a plastic bag?
We don’t recommend it. Plastic can trap moisture and odours, and some plastics can contribute to yellowing over time. Long-term storage should be breathable and archival-safe.
18) What’s the best way to store my wedding gown long-term?
Keep it in a cool, dry, dark space using archival or acid-free storage materials. Avoid sunlight, heat, humidity, and storage areas like garages or roof spaces.
19) Can you restore vintage or heirloom wedding gowns?
Yes — we often clean and refresh older gowns that may have yellowing, storage marks, or delicate ageing fabric. We’ll assess the gown and explain what improvements are realistically possible.
20) Why should I choose a specialist for my wedding gown?
Wedding dresses are complex garments that require careful handling, stain treatment, and fabric knowledge. A specialist helps protect delicate fabrics and detailing, and improves the chance of a beautiful long-term result.
21) How much does wedding dress cleaning cost?
Wedding dress cleaning is individually priced based on fabric, size, detailing, and condition. We assess your gown in-store and provide clear pricing before any work begins.
22) Do you inspect the gown before cleaning?
Yes. Every wedding dress is carefully inspected for stains, fabric type, embellishments, and any existing damage so we can choose the safest and most effective treatment.
23) Are you members of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists (AWGS)?
Yes. Premium Care Dry Cleaning is a member of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists, reflecting our commitment to specialist bridal care and ongoing industry standards.
24) Does cleaning affect future alterations or resale?
Professional cleaning can actually help by removing stains that may worsen over time. Properly cleaned and stored gowns are generally easier to alter or resell later.
25) Can you guarantee stain removal?
While we use advanced stain treatment techniques, no cleaner can guarantee 100% removal of all stains. We always aim for the best possible result and will explain any limitations upfront.
26) What happens if my dress has existing damage?
If we find loose beads, worn fabric, or damage, we’ll discuss it with you before proceeding and advise on the safest way to clean the gown.
27) Do you offer rush or urgent wedding dress cleaning?
In some cases, yes. If you have a tight deadline, let us know and we’ll advise whether an expedited service is possible.
28) Will my dress be cleaned on-site?
Yes. Wedding dresses are cleaned with specialist care at our premises, allowing us to closely control quality and handling throughout the process.
29) Do you clean dresses for pre-wedding wear or fittings?
Yes. We can clean gowns before the wedding if they’ve been worn for fittings, photo shoots, or floor samples.
30) What should I bring when dropping off my wedding dress?
Bring the gown, any detachable pieces, and let us know about any spills, marks, or concerns from the day. Photos from the wedding can also help identify hidden stains.
